Sergey Kud-Sverchkoff and Sergei Mikhailov. They’re stepping out. Today, May 27, the two Roscosmos cosmonauts are leaving the safety of the International Space Station for five hours. The void doesn’t wait.

Coverage kicks off at 9:45 a.m. EDT, but the actual EVA begins around 10:15 a.m. You can watch the feed live on Space.com or directly from NASA.

Why go out there? It’s about hardware. They plan to install a solar radiation experiment on Zvezda, the service module. They’ll also remove older science equipment from Poisk and Nauka. If they beat the clock, there’s a photo mission too.

One of the Progress cargo ships has an antenna stuck since March. Progress 94. It never deployed right. They want pictures.

Mikhailov is new to this. First EVA. Kud-Sverchkoff knows the drill, his second walk outside the station. Don’t mix them up, though. Look for the stripes. Kud-Sverchkoff wears red. Mikhailov wears blue.

“If time allows, the duo also will photographs…”

It’s only the second EVA of 2026. NASA’s Jessica Meir and Chris Williams were out back in March. Seven hours for them. Five for today’s pair.

Since November 2, 2008, crews have lived on orbit nonstop. The total count for all EVAs stands at 278. A long list. A quiet hum outside.
